Hi Filip,
USS Flagg was released in France in fall 1987. It came sealed within US box, which itself with in a brown outer box for protection.
French USS Flagg also came with instruction sheet in french. However, Keel-Haul's file card was the regular american one. There is no french filecard for him (Keel-Haul was one of the few characters for which Hasbro France kept the original american name)[/quote]
Hey Reg,
Thanks for the info. You're the man!
It took me all day (calling, driving to Brussels and Gent, and sending dozens of e-mails) but I have the info that I wanted now.
BTW I made a mistake when I typed the former asking price of 18.000 BEF in my other post. It was sold for exactly 10.995 BEF (approx. 275 EURO).
My Flagg still contains his original price tag from the Christiaensen toy store (a store in the City 2 mall - this shopping centre still exists today) which was located in the Rue Neuve in Brussels.
The editions of the Flagg that were destined to be sold on the European market were shipped from the factory to the local warehouses of Hasbro.
In Belgium they were located in Brussels.
Every box (the boxes from The US and EURO market were identical) was opened in these warehouses and the Hasbro/MB employees replaced the original instruction sheets with nearly identical sheets (the translated sheets were black instead of Blue).
After replacing the sheet the employees resealed the boxes using transparent tape and they placed 2 different stickers on each box.
- Sticker 1 advertised that the set was provided with instructions in the native language of the country were it was sold.
- Sticker 2 contained codes and info about the particular shop were this exact specimen was going to be sold.
So guys from Italy, Spain and Germany? Did anyone ever see instruction sheets in the languages of these countries?
According to former Hasbro employees the sets were sold there as well.
Anyway...the Flagg rules! Yo Joe!
I will be spending the next weekend assembling it and creating a background for it so that I can display it propperly.
BTW I have allready dissasembled this set once before and it is no joke. It took approx. 2 hours. It's not exactly a fun job if you consider the fact that some of the parts have the tendency to break just by looking at them.
